I was born and raised in District 2 and believe in serving my community. I currently work in New Mexico’s film industry. I’m a union member, small business owner, and proud father. I want to be a part of Albuquerque’s resurgence and ask for your support to be your City Councilor.
I was raised in the North Valley of Albuquerque and I am very proud of my family history, which has been in New Mexico for many generations. My family also has deep roots in District 2. My paternal grandparents, Joseph Griego and Mary Frances Griego (Chavez) grew up in Barelas and Old Town, respectively. They raised their family, including my father, Richard Griego, in the North Valley. My maternal grandparents, Robert “Bob” Martinez and Cecilia Gurule grew up in Martineztown and Old Town, respectively. My mother, Rose Griego (Martinez), was raised in Duranes and resides in Old Town.
I grew up in the Alameda neighborhood and attended Valley HS. Growing up I was always interested in politics and community as I helped with many local campaigns, to include my grandfathers’. I was even lucky enough to be a page in the State Senate for a few different Senators! At 11 years-old, I served as a Squadron Commander in the Sons of the American Legion and later became the New Mexico Detachment Historian. My dreams and aspirations grew and I went on to serve our great country in the United States Navy. Upon returning, my love for Albuquerque grew. I had the pleasure of serving our community as a public servant, and had the pleasure of dawning multiple uniforms.
I am a proud father of two amazing children and have coached my sons Little League teams and was also a Special Olympics coach. I also sit on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit and believe in the mission of humanity. I believe all of this life experience has afforded me unique lessons and opportunities that I am very grateful for. It has been my mission to serve others selflessly and I hope I can count on you to help me be your voice!
